Summary:
American born Chinese is a graphic novel written by Gene Luen Yang. This novel is basically about a young boy named Jin Wang who is an American born Chinese and what it means to fit in as an adolescent in growing up. This novel has 3 storylines. At first, these storylines do not seem to be related to each other at all but later on, the story somehow fits together perfectly in the end. The first storyline is about Jin and how he is trying to fit in. Most of his classmates are white which makes him even harder to fit. He is one of the 3 Asian students in the school. The second storyline is about Danny who is an American and his very annoying Chinese cousin who every year comes to visit him. Danny's family although doesn't have anyone from the Chinese heritage but he does have a Chinese cousin. His cousin Chin-Kee who is very smart and embarrasses Danny a lot in school. The third storyline is about the famous Chinese fables the monkey king. When he mastered all 12 major disciplines of kung fu he thought he was superior to all, but he realizes that every person has its own meaning to live by getting punishment for 500 years and so on...
